The High Court today reversed the order of the Election Commission to withdraw the candidacy of Major General (retd) MA Salam, the candidate of the ruling Awami League from Mymensingh-9.
The ruling was made in response to a writ appeal that Salam filed contesting the EC`s ruling. The court was presided over by Justice Abu Taher, Md. Saifur Rahman, and Md. Bashir Ullah.
Salam`s nomination had previously been denied by the EC due to claims that she was a loan defaulter.
Probir Neogi, Salam`s lawyer, provided evidence throughout the hearing that showed his client`s absence of involvement in any loan default.
